  1. Prepare the pan. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray 8 in. or 9 in. square pan with vegetable pan spray.
  2. Make cheesecake layer. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar with an electric mixer until creamy.
  3. Add egg and almond extract and mix well.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips and set aside.
  5. Make brownie batter. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt and set aside.
  6. In a medium microwave safe bowl, melt butter and chocolate chips.
  7. Remove melted chocolate mixture from the microwave and then stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla extract and mix well.
  8. Add flour mixture and mix until just combined.
  9. Mix batters together. Alternate dropping spoonfuls of the brownie mix and cheesecake filling into the prepared baking pan. Swirl the two batters together to create a marbled effect using a knife.
  10. Bake & enjoy! Place the pan in the pre-heated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely to room temperature before cutting.

Tips

  1. Add a Chocolate Chip Topping: Sprinkle 1/3 cup of chocolate chips on top of the brownies before baking for an extra special treat.
  2. Brownie Hack: Substitute a brownie box mix for the brownie batter to make a speedy yet impressive dessert!
  3. How to Store the Brownies: Keep the brownies covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  4. How to Make a Larger Batch of Brownies: To make a larger batch in a 13 in. x 9 in. pan, prepare the cheesecake batter as instructed and double the brownie layer. Swirl batters as instructed in step 9, and bake 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
